About

Hi, my name is Steve and I’m Jackie and we love history and food! They both are passions of ours, and what better way to enjoy them, than to combine them and talk about them together.

Our relationship, from day one has been centered around food. Our first “actual” date consisted of us going to Steve’s favorite bakery buying bread, Steve cooking a wonderful home cooked meal and Jackie doing what she does best, talking while enjoying a glass of wine.

As our relationship grew we introduced and experienced with one another many new adventures- rock climbing, wine and history tours, new card games, etc. Three and half years later we were married and look forward to many more new adventures together.

Lets back up a little and give you a little history (J) about ourselves.

Steve-After high school I decided to pursue my passion and love for food studying at The Art Institute in downtown Minneapolis. There I gained a wide knowledge and skill set of food, but focused my attention on baking.

After graduation I jumped feet first into the culinary world by working at the Convention Center and becoming involved in local networking organizations. I loved what I did and as the years went on decided this wasn’t something I wanted to do long term. I decided to follow another passion of mine, History. I am currently pursing a degree in History while working full time. My long-term goal is to get my Masters in Anthropology and pursue a career possibly working in museums Curating.

Jackie- I started cooking when I was in the first grade. I was struggling to learn how to read, so my very creative mom decided to teach me to cook and read at the same time. She grabbed her favorite cookbook, Betty Crocker Big Red. One recipe that I vividly remember making was banana bread. She would have me read the recipe out loud while measuring and mixing with her help.

My first job was catering as a Junior in high school. I instantly fell in love with the food industry. I continued on throughout high school and college holding various jobs and extensive internship with Land O’ Lakes in the Test Kitchen and General Mills working on the Pillsbury Bake-Off. This helped me to build a extensive knowledge base and resume while allowing me to figure out where my passion lies.

Currently I work for General Mills in Research and Development and enjoy going to work and being challenged every day.

We have a lot of fun together and enjoy spending time with one another. Our passions lie not only in history and food, but traveling, photography, staying active and adventure-always willing to try something new.  We hope these all come to life as we share with you our many adventures.

Please feel free to reach out to us on the blog if there is an adventure that you feel we need to experience.

Happy Reading!
